Master thesis topics available

The Chair of Comparative Politics (Prof. André Kaiser) offers topics for MA theses.

The theses will be written within the framework of an international project on technocracy in Europe, which is headed by Dr. Elena Semenova and Prof. André Kaiser (Germany) and Prof. Antonio Costa Pinto and Dr. Marcelo Camerlo (Portugal). The project is funded by the DAAD and the Foundation of Science and Technology of Portugal.
 

The proposed topics are:
1. The appointment of technocrats to national cabinets: The role of party ideology
2. Government popularity and technocratic ministers
3. Regional patterns of technocracy: Europe and/or beyond
We are open to other proposals which are related to the overall theme.

Your profile:
1. An MA student in Political Science
2. Solid empirical skills and good knowledge of statistical methods
3. Good knowledge of statistical programs (e.g., STATA or R)
4. Good knowledge of English
5. Interest in comparative empirical studies


We offer the opportunity to work on an international project, analyze and/or collect empirical data, provide intensive guidance, and develop research and publication skills.
