Enhanced Qualitative and Multimethod Research
Aims
The research project has three goals:
Part 1: We seek to understand better how empirical researchers make causal inferences in practice. This is important because there are many claims on how quantitative and qualitative scientists infer causation, but little research on how it is actually done.
Part 2: We aim to contribute to the progress of Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) on multiple dimensions such as the development of robustness tests.
Part 3: We intend to develop new techniques that enhance Bayesianism in standalone qualitative and multimethod research.
The project is funded by the European Research Council from May 2015 to April 2020 under the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program (grant agreement nr. 638425).
Team
I am happy that I have a team of excellent people around me with whom I pursue these goals. Felix Bethke is Post-Doc and works with me on part 1 of the project. Jan Schwalbach is a PhD researcher collaborating with me on part 2. We are assisted by the following student assistants: Anne Kailuweit and Dennis Bereslavskiy.
Holger Döring was Post-Doc in this project from August 2015 to August 2016 and was of great help in getting the entire project running and part 2 in particular.
