Vacancy announcement: Student Research Assistant

The Chair for European and Multilevel Politics (Prof. Sven-Oliver Proksch) is looking for a Student Research Assistant (up to 44 hours per month).

The desired start date is 1 October 2024. The research assistant will support research projects on European and parliamentary politics.

Tasks:

  • Support of research projects conducted at the Chair
  • Collecting and managing data on elections, cabinets, political parties, and members of parliament
  • Support in validating political speech data, including hand coding and text annotation
  • Support in pre-testing of surveys and survey experiments

Prerequisites:

  • Enrollment in the political science BA or MA or a related social science program
  • Strong motivation and commitment to support the Chair in producing high-quality scientific research and data
  • Ability to work in teams as well as independently
  • Interest in working with quantitative political data
  • Experience with or strong motivation to learn data management procedures in R
  • Good oral and written English skills
  • Additional language skills are an asset

  • Pay according to standards of the University of Cologne for research assistants (13,25 Euro/hour for BA students, 14,80 Euro/hour for students with a Bachelor degree)
