The workshop aims to bring together scholars from various disciplines to explore the multifaceted dynamics of migration, the evolving landscape of care practices, and the impact of digitalization on both phenomena. It aims to amalgamate the political economy of the migration industry and to examine how increasing digitalization can reshape migrant care work, creating new arenas comprising new and changing actors and institutions. By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue, the workshop seeks to delve into the complexities, challenges, and opportunities that arise at the nexus of these themes.
The format of the workshop will include presentations followed by discussions. A discussant will be allocated to each presentation. In the evening, a workshop dinner will be organized. Additionally, to reach a broader audience, the creation of a podcast series based
on workshop presentations or a related topic of your choice is planned.
Researchers at all levels are encouraged to apply. If you are interested in participating in the workshop, please send the title and a short abstract (max. 300 words) of your paper by 12.04.2024 to the organizers.
We greatly acknowledge the University of Cologne's Innovative Tandem Collaboration funding. The project funding will cover the flight and accommodation costs of selected participants.
